Background
The stories we will be sharing here are developed from interviews with community residents, newspaper articles and other sources to tell how communities in North Carolina have been affected by environmental hazards. Communities have responded with a variety of strategies and differing levels of success. Determining the existence of an environmental hazard has been controversial in some cases.
Suggestions for use
These stories may be used in conjunction with summaries on environmental issues and Reader’s Theater scripts to learn more about the history of an environmental health issue and how North Carolina citizens have responded.
